Black Beach Municipal Campground – Coming May 2020!

Black Beach Campground will be owned and managed by the City of Silver Bay.  It is a 49-site campground that will have 30-amp electricity throughout all sites and 34 of the sites will also have 50-amp electric service and full water and sewer hookups. Most of the sites will accommodate larger RV’s that have difficulty finding appropriate size sites in other campgrounds along the North Shore.  There will also be a few pull-through sites.  Rentals will be either nightly or weekly.

The main building will house the required lavatories and bathing units.  There will be a playground, a group picnic area, and walking trail in the campground leading to Black Beach.

Neighborhood Revitalization Grants

Neighborhood Revitalization Mini-Grant

The City of Silver Bay, in partnership with Lake County Housing & Redevelopment Authority, has developed a neighborhood revitalization mini-grant program to help make improvements to the exterior of properties within the city limits of Silver Bay.  Residents and businesses are eligible to apply.  No income limit.  The maximum grant request per household or business is $500.  Applications and information are available at City Hall and online.  The City will begin accepting completed applications at 8:00am on June 3, 2019 and review will be on a first come, first serve basis, while funds are available.  Priority will be given to first-time applicants.  Emailed applications will not be accepted.

Bid forms are available at silverbay.com or can be picked up at City Hall, 7 Davis Drive, Silver Bay, MN 55614.  The City of Silver Bay reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to award the bid in the best interest of the City.

Parks & Recreation Director Job Opening

PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR

The City of Silver Bay is accepting applications for the position of Parks and Recreation Director.  The primary function of this position is to provide vision, oversight, inspections, and maintenance of City parks, recreation areas, recreation facilities, recreation programs, Rukavina Arena, Black Beach Municipal Campground, and the Silver Bay Marina.  Supervises, directs, schedules, trains, and evaluates all Parks and Recreation Department personnel to ensure efficient and safe working practices.  Responsible for developing and maintaining the departmental budget, receipts, expenses, reports, and all other data related to the department for proper accounting procedures. Applicants must have graduated from high school or have GED equivalent, two (2) years post-secondary education, have at least one (1) year of administrative and supervisory experience, one (1) year experience using word processing programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word, have a valid Minnesota Class D drivers license, and have considerable ability to communicate effectively with city officials, parks and recreation board members, city staff, and the public.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages and benefits.  Applications and full job description with qualifications are available upon request and to be returned to City Hall, 7 Davis Drive, Silver Bay, MN 55614 and online.  This position is opened until filled.  Resumes are considered a supplement to the required city application.  EEOE/AA
