Projects for this school year will be, Sandi Pillsbury-Gredzen a weeklong art residency for Elementary Students. Memory project for High School art students: Orphans from Mexico. Our students will do a portrait painting of ten orphans. When completed they will be sent to the orphans in the spring of 2008. Master Piece Art is an ongoing program for the Elementary Students with local volunteers teaching the classes. George Pope comes and does a watercolor demonstration to all the upper grades of Elementary. The funding comes from your generous donations and grant writing. We had written several Grants for tickets for low-income families. 33.5% of Elementary Students are low-income. Of the monies raised to date 85% have been from grants and 15% from local donations. Some grants need matching funds and without increasing support of area businesses and personal donations we wouldn’t be able to acquire some grants.
