The 2007 Lake Superior Salmon Classic was a huge success. Lake Superior water temperatures “turned” finally the week of the contest (from 39 to 52 degrees), which made it a challenge for the fishermen. The weather was great. Over 100 businesses donated to the event’s prizes, making 98 prize packages. Nearly 100 boats with around 250 fishermen weighed in over 239 fish! Largest fish was a 23.67 lake trout caught late morning on 7/21/07. The Friends of the Library would like to thank the Silver Bay Marina, City of Silver Bay and ALL businesses for hosting another great contest for all!
