Minnesota Design Team Visit

Community Visioning Session

Over the past few months the city has been working to understand the community’s needs and vision our economic and development plan for the future. This work has included the city surveys that went out and most recently hosting the Minnesota Design Team May 19-21. The process included presentations that highlighted the communities current organizations and assets, a city tour and a community input session on Friday night. The design team then synthesized this information to provide a suggested development plan that took into consideration the community’s core values and needs. The attached presentation is a summary of their visit and design ideas. For more information stop in City Hall.

POSITION OPENING CHIEF OF POLICE

The City of Silver Bay is accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police.  The primary function of this position is to direct the administration and operations of the Police Department and carry out the mission and vision for the City. Supervise, coordinate, lead, teach, schedule activities, conduct criminal investigations, enforce laws and ordinances, communicate internally and externally, and be a patrolling officer. Applicants must have five (5) years experience as a Police Officer, graduation from high school or equivalent, Police Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) license, at least one (1) year administrative and supervisory experience and/or have completed a Police Chief Command or Management School, and must not have a criminal record. This is a full-time position with competitive wages and benefits. The City of Silver Bay is accepting applications for the position of Part-time Police Officer within the Police Department.  The primary function is to patrol city streets and roads, enforce laws and ordinances, and conduct investigations.  Applicants must be eligible to be MN POST Board licensed.  A comprehensive background investigation, medical and psychological examinations are required as a condition of employment.  This is a part-time position with competitive wages. 2022 City Wide Exchange Days

The Silver Bay City Council has designated Saturday, May 21st, June 11th, August 20th, and September 17th as citywide exchange days.  This day is designated for residents to place unwanted items on their boulevard.  Please be sure to remove all items from the boulevard before the Monday following the exchange day, otherwise items will be picked up and disposed of at the resident’s expense.

The place of filing for federal offices is the Office of the Secretary of State, State Office Building, Room 180, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155-1299. The place of filing for state offices is with the Office of the Secretary of State or with the County Auditor of the county in which the candidate resides. The place of filing for county offices is with the office of the County Auditor.

Candidates may file in person or by mail if the filing is received during the filing period. Candidates who will be absent from the state during the filing period and meet the requirements of Minnesota Statutes section 204B.09, subdivision 1a, may arrange to file during the seven days immediately preceding the candidate’s absence from the state.

The filing period begins May 17, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. and ends May 31, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Filing offices will be closed May 30, 2022, in observance of Memorial Day.
